Suzanne Shaw blog: Hear’say nostalgia, an emotional Dancing On Ice final and parent’s evening

What an amazing ‘Dancing On Ice’ final! In the end the best skater won and the celeb skaters, professionals and production team were thrilled with the outcome.

We had the after-show party and the speeches were amazing. I was really proud when Matt got a mention for being the longest standing cast member. It was such an emotional night.

I definitely don’t want Jane (Torvill) and Chris (Dean) to retire even after nine years of DOI and thirty years in their sport. They are such dedicated and talented people and I'm so proud to have been part of the show. It’s been an absolute pleasure to work with legends such as Jane and Chris and (most of all) Matt. Now it's tour time!

It's been another busy week but thankfully some of that was spent at home.

With being away most of Christmas and New year and having no time to do home things, I spent Monday to Wednesday clearing out the house - which seems like an endless job! I've even hired a skip (that's how ruthless I'm being). I’ve only manage to get through the loft at this point – I didn't realise how many Christmas trees I've collected over the years!

While I was cleaning out the loft, I came across loads of Hear'say DVDs and merchandise! Certainly a blast from the past! I even found a track we had recorded that never made it onto our second album. It was 'If There's Any justice' which Lemar had a number three hit with in the charts! The record company decided it wasn't right for the Hear'say sound – it was too mature apparently! Plus, they thought it was too big of a hit to be just an album track so wanted it to be released as a single.

It was such a great track and in our version Danny did the lead vocals, which sounded amazing. Songs are often recorded by several artists before it hits the right act. As the Big Reunion proved, Girl Thing were due to release 'Pure and Simple', until we came along and it was passed over to us. It's crazy how it all works!

So the OK Magazine interview with my boyfriend Sam came out this week. It did make me giggle as the front-page headline was 'WE WANT A SMALL FAMILY WEDDING’! Well you can imagine our family's shock! We're not planning our wedding by any means, they just simply asked IF we were what kind of wedding would it be, and that was Sam's answer (my answer was a beach wedding). Apart from that we were super happy with the piece and liked the pictures too, even Dudley the dog made an appearance!

It seems like ages ago now but we enjoyed pancake day the American way! Matt (my skating partner) made pancakes for us! They were flippin' amazing and non-stop toppings! I went for the traditional way, sugar and lemon whereas Corey, Sam and Matt let loose! Just look at these! Raspberries and mint choc syrup was one and peanut butter, bananas and maple syrup was the other!

Finally, I had parents' evening this week and I'm so proud of Corey as he's doing really well. I wasn't surprised to hear he excels in the creative subjects! They've been working on 'A Midsummer Night’s Dream' - a classic Shakespeare piece! His teacher said he was loving every minute of it which I’m thrilled about.
