Kylie Minogue’s Gold Hotpants Voted Most Iconic Fashion Moment
Liz Hurley’s safety-pin dress and Geri Halliwell’s Union Jack dress also make the cut as biggest moments in style revealed
It's been more than ten years since she graced us with her derriere in the music video for Spinning Around.
But Kylie Minogue's gold hot pants are still making headlines a decade later as they've been voted the most famous fashion moment in history in a new survey.
Geri Halliwell's Union Jack dress, Liz Hurley's safety pin dress and Princess Beatrice's Royal Wedding hat also made the list of the most iconic outfits, in a poll to celebrate 21 years of Designers at Debenhams.
Take a look at the top ten below and let us know which look YOU reckon should be voted number one...
1. Kylie Minogue’s Gold Hot Pants (2000)
The song was amazing ('Get outta my wayyy') - but all eyes were on Kylie's butt in those shiny hotpants. We wish our bootay looked like hers.
2. Liz Hurley Safety Pin Dress (1994)
She shot to fame when she wore THAT dress to the premiere of Four Weddings and a Funeral alongside then-boyfriend Hugh Grant, but since reckoned it's 'highly unlikely' she'd wear it again.
3. Carrie Bradshaw in Sex and the City (1998 -2004)
Carrie Bradshaw became synonymous with tutus and stilettos on the hit show so it's no wonder she's in at number three! We'd also like her apartment please. And Big as our boyfriend.
4. Spice Girls, Union Platform Sole Trainers (1996) Geri’s Union Jack dress, Brit Awards (1997)
Yes, the platform trainers were cool (they certainly gave Baby Spice a few more inches) but it's Geri Halliwell's Union Jack dress that will go down in history as THE iconic Spice Girls fashion moment. It almost didn't happen though - Geri just got her sister to sew on a Union Jack tea towel beforehand. It also currently holds the World Record for the most expensive piece of popstar clothing dealt at action.
5. Kate Moss’ Hunter Wellies at Glastonbury (2005)
Before Kate Moss wore them, Hunter wellies were associated with the hunting, shooting, fishing set. Then she wore them with hot pants and 'boho festival style' was born.
6. All Saints’ Combat Trousers (1995)
Because let's be honest, All Saints pretty much shaped 90s style.
7. Lady Gaga and Rihanna’s Shoulder Pads (2010)
Famously worn by stars including Joan Collins in the 1980s, Power Shoulders had a renaissance in the 21st century when Lady Gaga and Rihanna wore them, before trickling down to the high street.
8. Alicia Silverstone’s Tartan Mini Skirt in Clueless (1995)
You know an outfit is iconic when it's parodied in a MUSIC video (Iggy Azalea no less, natch).
9. Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake in double denim (2001)
This has got to be up there as THE most iconic matching outfit of all time. Alongside Posh and Becks in head-to-toe leather.
10. Princess Beatrice’s Royal Wedding Hat (2011)
She certainly stole the show when she wore the famous 'Pretzel' hat by designer Philip Treacy to the Royal Wedding. But she later sold it on eBay and made £81,100 for charity. LOVE. HER.
