Kim Sears’ Wedding Dress Gets A Mixed Response On Twitter, Fans Reckon She’s ‘Trying To Hide Baby Bump’

It’s the biggest day of their lives with all eyes on what the bride and groom will wear for their Big Day.

But while Andy Murray’s traditional tartan kilt received a positive response from fans, others weren’t so convinced by Kim Sears’ wedding dress choice.

The 27-year-old now-wife of the tennis ace, also 27, opted for a vintage-inspired, custom-made Jenny Packham gown for the couple’s wedding at Dunblane Cathedral in Scotland this weekend.

Kim’s silk chiffon dress featured a v-neck pleated bodice with Swarovski crystal embellishment on the waist and shoulders, along with a three-metre long veil and a matching Jenny Packham headband.

“The elbow-length sleeves follow the trend set by the Duchess of Cambridge for a more covered-up approach to bridal, but the low-cut, open back did not,” wrote Kate Finnagan, Fashion Features Director at Stella.

But while the fashion critics praised Kim’s more traditional dress choice, fans of the couple on Twitter weren’t so convinced - even going so far as to label the dress ‘frumpy’ and ‘unflattering.’

One fan wrote: ‘Kim Sears' custom Jenny Packham wedding gown - why? Totally unflattering.’

While another reckoned it wasn’t the right style for her body shape: ‘Disappointed in #KimSears Jenny Packham wedding dress, not right shape for her at all and way too much fuss [sic].’

And a surprising number of fans thought that the reason the professional painter chose a design that was fitted at the top and billowing at the bottom is because she’s actually hiding a baby bump.

Could we soon see the pitter-patter of tiny feet at the couple’s country home?

Whether you think Kim’s dress is a fashion win or fail, we can’t deny that we’d love to see a mini Murray/Sears running around on the tennis courts!

The pair wed in the 12th century Dunblane Cathedral in the groom’s hometown, surrounded by friends and family including Judy Murray, Andy’s brother Jamie and tennis champ Tim Henman.

Kim, who went to school in West Sussex, continued to channel the wedding’s vintage theme by arriving in a vintage car, while her bridesmaids all wore dusky pink bridesmaid dresses.

The couple got engaged in November 2015 but have been together since meeting at the U.S. Open in 2005.
