Jessica Chastain is one of the most beautiful women in Hollywood – but she failed to light up the CFDA Awards red carpet in New York last night.

The Zero Dark Thirty actress donned a bizarre beauty look that drowned out the Hollywood star’s porcelain complexion and made her look in need of some Vitamin D.

The Oscar-nominated actress scraped her auburn locks back into a sophisticated bun – but unfortunately it made her look much paler than she actually is.

Jessica sported a low-key make-up look with flawless skin, lashings of black mascara and a coral lip – but a touch of bronzer was needed to make this a red-carpet worthy look.

Going for such simple, understated hair – we would have liked to have seen a statement beauty look on her, whether that was a smokey eye or dramatic lipstick.

The 36-year-old actress also failed to make much of an impression with her red-carpet fashion choice.

Jessica opted for a black, ruched Givenchy LBD that showed off her slim physique but faded into the background last night.

The Help actress styled the look with strappy black heels and a multi-coloured wrist cuff.

Her lacklustre-red carpet appearance comes just weeks after she wowed the critics on the festival circuit, including the Oscars, BAFTAs and the Cannes Film Festival.

She sported a pretty make-up look at the Sound of Change this weekend, curling her golden locks into ringlets and wearing a bronze smokey eye.
