Is Dame Helen Mirren the new face of Marks & Spencer?

Helen Mirren spied 'on an M&S photoshoot in east London at the weekend'

Dame Helen Mirren has sparked rumours that she's set to be unveiled as the latest face of Marks & Spencer.

The 67-year-old British actress was reportedly spied shooting what appeared to be a photoshoot for the high street giant, at St Katharine's Docks in east London over the weekend.

According to reports, Dame Helen was being snapped by acclaimed photographer Annie Leibowitz alongside charity campaigner Katie Piper - who was badly burnt in an acid attack in 2008.

The shoot is reported to have cost a staggering £500,000, although it's not clear where that sum has come from.

So far, Marks & Spencer have refused to confirm or deny the reports. Yet if they are true, this would be Helen Mirren's first ever fashion campaign.

M&S have attracted a bevy of stylish stars to front their campaigns in the past, with the likes of Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Twiggy, Dannii Minogue and Myleene Klass appearing for previous campaigns.

Mirren's reported turn for the brand comes after M&S' new creative director Belinda Earl started at the helm over six months ago. It is hoped she will resurrect the failing fortunes in the fashion sector.
