Ireland Baldwin looked more than a little like her mum Kim Basinger at last night's amfAR gala in New York.

Seventeen-year-old Ireland wowed in a floor-length black gown with lace detail by DSquared2 which showed off every inch of her 6ft 2in model frame.

Ireland accessorised the simple yet stunning dress with ornate diamond cuff bracelets, matching glittering earrings and black heels.

With her blonde locks, perfect pout and sultry eyes, the model was the image of her actress mother Kim Basinger, star of "9 1/2 Weeks" and "L.A. Confidential".

Victoria's Secret angel Candice Swanepoel also opted for black on last night's red carpet, posing with Belgian designer Olivier Theyskens, artistic director of Theyskens' Theory.

Candice was channelling her inner rock goddess in the sweeping black dress with an intricate beaded top and a black clutch.

The 24-year-old's glam grunge look was finished off with some serious smokey eyes made even more striking by her nude lips and bed hair.

Jennifer Lopez, who received a humanitarian award from the American Foundation for AIDS Research last night, followed the current metallic trend in a blue sequin Tom Ford gown with Harry Winston jewels.

Also in attendance with Kill Bill star Uma Thurman, who stunned onlookers outside New York's Plaza Hotel in a fuchsia strapless Atelier Versace gown that was a welcome pop of colour in a rather monochrome sea of gowns.
