Festive night in anyone? UK one of most expensive places in the world for night out

We're one of the most expensive countries to drink beer, eat fast food and travel home - and the cinema will break the bank

It's the Christmas party season and that means party, party, party. Right?

But it might well leave us more skint than any other population in the world, according to an exclusive new set of stats by Yahoo.

Our new set of data on the TRUE cost of a night out across the globe shows that painting the town red over Christmas in the UK is going to leave us more crippled financially come January than most other party-goers.

And one thing's for sure - you certainly don't want to be going to the cinema in this country if you're counting the pennies.

As our exclusive infographic below shows, the UK is by far the most pricey destination to see a movie, with an average ticket price of nearly double that in the US - and 14 TIMES a night at the flicks in India.

And if you don't drive, you'll seriously struggle to get home from the pictures cheaply if you're living in the UK.

The chart shows that we pay TWICE as much for trains here than even the second closest country by expense - Germany.

The UK is also in the top six most costly countries to drink beer AND to have that greasy fast food meal at the end of the night.

There was only one point of comparison to be relieved about - our hangover caffeine fix is one of the cheapest in the world.

Might be worth skipping the night out part and just grabbing a takeaway latte?
