YouTube Star Zoella Joins A-Listers In Celebrity Great British Bake Off Line-Up

The Great Comic Relief Bake Off 2015: Actor Michael Sheen, former Strictly champion Abbey Clancy and model Alexa Chung are among the celebs to test their baking skills for charity

She made history as one of the first non-singers to appear on a Band Aid single.

And now YouTube star Zoella can add another string to her bow she’s been announced as one of the stars of the celebrity edition of the Great British Bake-Off.

The 24-year-old – whose real name is Zoe Sugg – will join a host of A-Listers in The Great Comic Relief Bake Off 2015, all in the name of charity.

The show will see 16 celebrities compete for the title of Star Baker in the GBBO tent over four weeks, with the aim of raising as much money as possible for charity Comic Relief.

Week one sees Joanna Lumley, Lulu, Jennifer Saunders and Dame Edna Everage fighting for the title in front of judges Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood.

Vlogger Zoe leads the second week of the competition, joining stylist Gok Wan, former Strictly champion Abbey Clancy and TV host Jonathan Ross.

Welsh actor Michael Sheen will feature in the next round alongside presenter Jameela Jamil, former Prime Minister’s wife Sarah Brown and The Peep Show star David Mitchell.

And if that’s not enough, model Alexa Chung, former radio DJ Chris Moyles, Victoria Wood and actor Kayvan Novak will be competing in the last week of the competition.

The celebs will be put to the test every week on signature, technical and showstopper bakes – but who will come out on top and who will be guilty of a soggy bottom?

Presenters Sue Perkins and Mel Giedroyc will return to the Red Nose Day edition alongside comedians Jo Brand and Ed Byrne, each presenting an episode (and probably nibbling on the contestants’ bakes at the same time).

The first episode airs on Wednesday 11th February at 8pm, followed by Wednesday 18th February at 8.30pm, Wednesday 25th February at 8pm, and Wednesday 4th March at 8pm on BBC One.

The four Star Bakers from each episode will then return for a special edition of GBBO: An Extra Slice on Friday 13th March for Red Nose Day, as they vie to win the coveted champion of champions title.

"Although there were some baking catastrophes, some surprising hidden skills were revealed," said baking legend Mary Berry.

"One thing for certain is that anyone can have a go at baking and it's a great way to raise money for Comic Relief - and you are guaranteed to have a lot of fun!"
