Beauty how-to: Summer white nails

We reveal how to work the nail trend after Kim Kardashian, Jennifer Lopez and Ciara step out with bright white talons

It’s official! White nails are the trend to be seen in this summer.

Ciara, Kim Kardashian and Jennifer Lopez are just some of the stars to step out with bright white talons of late, and you can too with our easy how-to below.

US singer Ciara, 27, rocked long white talons with smokey eyes in LA recently – while Jennifer Lopez shared a snap on Twitter of similar nails.

They’re not the only ones to rock white nails as Kim Kardashian has spoken of her love for the trend as has Hollywood actress Vanessa Hudgens.

But if you thought the Tippex white nails look was just for the stars, think again as we reveal how to work the trend from home.

Bear in mind that one of the most important things to remember when painting your nails white is an even, opaque finish.

1)    Start by moisturizing hands, nails and cuticles with a softening hand cream. We like Soap and Glory Hand Food, £5.00.

2)    Next, remove all traces of hand and cuticle cream with nail polish remover to ensure a nice, clean nail bed.

3)    Paint your nails with a strengthening base coat to make the colour last – OPI Nail Envy, £18.80, is a hero product of ours.

4)    Opt for a bright white shade that only needs a few coats for an opaque finish. Orly White Out, from £5.00, is perfect for this look.

5)    Complete your look with a wet-look top coat for a glossy finish. Nails Inc Kensington Caviar Gel Effect Plumping Top Coat, £12.00, is perfect for creating the gel look like Kim Kardashian.

6)    Want the look to last longer? Spritz OPI RapiDry Spray, £13.00 to restore that glossy shine between applications – and you’re good to go!
