Whisper - The Secrets App That's Choc Full Of Cheating Spouses

Just when you thought the internet was full of LOLcats, skateboarding dogs and "which Clueless charater are you?"

The Whisper app has churned up something heartbreakingly real.

The Whisper smartphone app, which launched in 2012, was designed to give people a place to bare their souls anonymously.

In an age where we see everything through an instagram filter and use Facebook to make it look like life is one big beach party, Whisper's creators wanted to design an environment where it was okay to tell the truth.

To be really, really real.

Happily, many of the admissions that have turned up on Whisper are hilarious.

Others have been sweet, sad or nostalgic.

A lot of people have taken to Whisper to reminisce about past relationships.

But sadly, there is one theme which keeps popping up, over and over again.

Given the chance to fess up, people have been using Whisper to talk about their experiences with infidelity.

The app is full of cheating husbands, wives, those who know they're being cheated on but haven't the courage to do anything about it or those who are the keepers of other people's cheating secrets.

Yikes!

This seems to us to be a pretty grim reflection of just how many people are unable to be faithful to just the one partner.

It also poses a familiar question - "Does the internet encourage cheating?"

Every man, woman, child and their dog has a smartphone and with 101 different ways to message people, it has become easier and easier to keep relationships a secret.

If we're not Snapchatting nude pics, we're sexting on the train and Whatsapping a quick video strip tease.

Even Whisper itself has been used as a way for people to hook up!

Seeing the level of cheating confessions on Whisper, it's hard not to imagine the secrets that are being kept in our own relationships.
