Referring to body weight, it is important to maintain a healthy body weight in relation to your height, sex and lifestyle. Being overweight can increase the risk of heart disease, stroke and certain cancers and puts greater strain on the body in general. Equally, being underweight has health risks, including osteoporosis, infertility and anaemia. The contributing factors to determine body weight are hereditary factors, hormonal or thyroid abnormalities, exercise, diet and lifestyle.
