Victoria Beckham Visits Children Battling HIV in Africa For Born Free Campaign

So she's not just our fave rags-to-riches style icon, she's now cuddling babies with HIV. Basically, she's great.

So it turns out philanthropy isn't exclusive to the Angelina Jolies and Madonnas of this world.

Our very own Victoria Beckham made a trip to Africa to visit local children.

And unlike Madge and Ange, she didn't even try to bring one home with her!

Victoria was lately seen milling around a community health centre in Cape Town, South Africa, chatting to mothers living with HIV.

The Mothers2Mothers organisation, which Queen VB visited while there and the Born Free charity, which she's supported since coming home, both specialise in assisting mothers living with HIV and preventing the spread of the infection between mothers and their children.

Interestingly, the trip was documented by Vogue magazine, with acclaimed photographer Annie Liebowitz taking snaps of Posh Spice as she wandered around.

This means the trip has a whiff of "publicity stunt" about it, but seeing as it was for such a good cause, driving publicity to it in this way doesn't feel like a bad thing.

And she joins a selection of other stars who've done the same:

Of the HIV positive women that Victoria got the chance to speak to, Nozi Samela stood out for her.

Speaking of the "mentor mother", Victoria said to Vogue, "She is a powerful example of 'living positively' for the newly diagnosed pregnant women in her community."

She's also used her Twitter account to boost awareness of the cause:

Since her return, Victoria Beckham has continued her philanthropic campaign, by designing a mother and baby dress for ShopBop, in aid of Born Free.

We love the Africa-inspired prints that she's added to her usual colour blocking designs.
