Victoria Beckham has successfully transitioned from pop star to fashion designer and received critical acclaim for her two collections at New York Fashion Week.
David Beckham’s wife has now revealed the secret to her success of two shows, Victoria Beckham and its sister label, Victoria by Victoria Beckham.
The former Spice Girl told reporters it takes hard work and dedication to create a successful fashion line.
The designer spoke as she’s set to fly into London to judge the International Woolmark Prize at London Fashion Week at the weekend.
"Hard work and dedication [is required]. But also recognising the importance of combining creativity with commercial viability,” she said.
"Understanding the business and all its aspects is key as well as surrounding yourself with the right team and structure.”
Victoria’s collections have won over fashion critics in the city but her fashion work doesn’t stop there as she’s joining the judging panel of the International Woolmark Prize.
Considering her first fashion line launched just a few years ago, the mum-of-four listed the reasons she thinks she’s qualified to be a judge.
"An eye for detail, fit and proportion [are necessary qualities]. I create fashion but am also a wearer of fashion so I will be looking at the designs with both sets of eyes,” she said.
"I also really appreciate other designers’ aesthetics and I'm excited to see some inspiring use of wool.”
A wearer of fashion she is indeed – her own fashion in particular.
The designer has been spotted in New York wearing her own AW13 pieces straight off the runway – including this camel blouse she donned while carrying baby Harper.
