The rise of the 'mummy makeover:' Anti-ageing treatments increase 'as back-to-school looms'

Treatments to restore youthful looks on the rise ahead of the imminent return to the school gate

The back-to-school rush typically signals a flurry of panic as parents rush around for new uniforms, school shoes and pencil cases in time for the new term.

Yet it seems it's not just ordering the latest textbooks that are on mums' minds ahead of September, as it's been claimed today that many are having a 'mummy makeover' too.

According to new reports, many mums are indulging in anti-ageing treatments ahead of their impending return to the school gates.

In the three months leading up to the new term, the Harley Medical Group has reported an 18 per cent rise in treatments such as laser for pigmentation and brown spots, Dermal Fillers and Line & Wrinkle.

While the rise is partly due to the summer months, nurses at the Group's clinic in London have claimed there is a definite 'back-to-school trend' emerging.

Dr Naylor of The Harley Medical Group said: "We aren't talking about making women look like movie stars or supermodels.

"We are talking about refreshing them post holidays, capitalising on their post holiday glows and getting them looking good for the autumn months ahead."

Treatments proving to be popular among 'Yummy Mummies' who visit the clinics include Laser Rejuvenation or Obagi Blue Peel to treat pigmentation caused by pregnancy or sun damage, and Dermaroller Therapy - which restores that healthy glow post exposure to the sun from warm holiday getaways along with Botox and Dermal Filler treatments.

"Such treatments are perfect for achieving a natural glow, restoring youth, leaving women looking and feeling like new again," she continued.

"One really popular treatment at the moment is the wrinkle relaxing injections which smooths lines whilst fillers plump skin and add fullness.

"Having a ‘Mummy Makeover' is part of a trend toward women wanting to look refreshed again after the summer holiday break," Dr Naylor said.

"We aren't creating beauty, we are simply restoring it."
