The Best Lullabies To Soothe Babies To Sleep Revealed – And They’re Not What You Would Expect

The days of solely singing Rock a Bye Baby to little ones are long gone. Parents are getting more creative with what they sing their baby to sleep with these days…

While classic lullabies are still sung to babies worldwide by many parents, lots of other mums and dads are opting to belt out more, erm, controversial tunes to their little ‘uns at bedtime.

It seems like more and more parents are singing tunes from the likes of Pitbull and Vanilla Ice, turning bedtime wind-down into more of a mini party.

But as it’s the sound of their parent’s voice that babies find soothing rather than the song they sing, it doesn’t really matter which tune is sung.

Some 37 per cent of parents chose to sing hip hop songs at bedtime, research by BT has found.

While 25 per cent of mums croon tunes from TV adverts, 15 per cent of dads sing songs from films and 13 per cent of parents chose pop tunes as their go-to lullaby.

But the top tune isn’t a chart-topper in the modern day sense – it’s a classic. The ultimate song to send babies to sleep is Audrey Hepburn’s Moon River, made famous by the hit film Breakfast at Tiffany’s.
