The Before And After Celebrity Pregnancy Pic – Inspiring Or Irresponsible?

Russian supermodel Elena Perminova is the latest celebrity mum to flaunt her incredible post-baby figure. But this speedy weight loss isn’t necessarily healthy or reassuring for normal new mums who don’t have access to personal trainers and are struggling to regain their pre-pregnancy shape

There’s no doubt about it. Elena Perminova looks amazing in her nude post-pregnancy shoot for Vogue Russia.

The 28-year-old posed for the publication to showcase her body just 60 days after the birth of her third child, Arina. Obviously she’s been Photoshopped for the spread, but nevertheless the mum of three looks gorgeous.

But before we continue to gush, let’s take a second to acknowledge a few things.

Elena is a supermodel, aka she has a naturally slim (and enviable) frame that us normal humans can’t ever compete with. And nor should we try.

And as well as losing the baby weight a lot quicker than ‘normal’ mums would be able to, she’s wed to a media tycoon and former Soviet KGB spy who, it’s safe to say, has a fair amount of money to fund his wife’s fitness endevours. If only we all had access to top-of-the-line exercise machines and personal trainers, eh?

But most worryingly, Elena says she started exercising just two weeks after her baby was born – despite having had a C-section.

A woman’s body tends to take a lot longer to recover from a caesarean than it does a vaginal delivery, which is why health experts advise women who’ve had the latter to avoid some activities – including sex, driving and exercising – for at least six weeks.

You should always check with your GP before trying any of these things post-birth.

“Normally doctors say ‘yes’ to sport only three months after giving birth,” says Elena. “But I started earlier, just two weeks afterwards, even though I had a Caesarian. The doctor allowed me to do it because I felt very well.”

Elena does admit that she kept exercising to a minimum – and didn’t work on her stomach.

“Naturally, at first I was not exercising a lot, or there was a risk to breastfeeding,” says Elena. “And the main thing – I did not exercise my stomach. It is dangerous to do it right after birth.”

Despite the speed of her weight loss, Vogue Russia told it’s readers that the supermodel’s body was in “ideal shape”. Erm…

“Perminova is posing naked,” Russian Vogue told its readers. “She has nothing to hide. What’s more, she has something to show. Her body is in ideal shape, although two months after giving birth is nothing at all in terms of time.”

Celebrity Mum’s Who’ve Regained Their Pre-Baby Body Quickly
Elena’s not the only famous mum to shed her baby pounds at the speed of light.

Katie Price shocked fans when she posted a photo of her flat stomach on her YouGossip site just three weeks after giving birth.

And even the Duchess of Cambridge slimmed down post-pregnancy very quickly. She shared a flash of her slim tum less than three months after having Prince George.

Be Realistic With Your Expectations
While some women do lose their baby weight quickly and others claim that breastfeeding was a miracle weight-loss method, keep in mind that every woman - and every body - is different.

Celebrities' lives revolve around being photographed and looking good, which is definitely inspiration for snapping back to their pre-baby figure quickly.

But for the vast majority of us losing weight is much more of a battle - and something that we don't all have the time, finances or motivation to prioritise.
