Suzanne Shaw blog: Sneak peek at Dancing On Ice tour and a weekend with Corey

It's tour time!!! We’re our way to Manchester today to start technical rehearsals for the final ‘Dancing On Ice’ tour... We open on Friday.

Rehearsals have been going really well however it may well all change because our practice rink is half the size of the touring rink. What we have sorted already may have to change as we’ll have to space out the rink more - which means more speed!!! Let me tell you it can be pretty scary, especially with daring moves… and 15,000 people watching of course!

The format of the show is slightly different this time round. The last tours have been celeb skaters and their partners, fighting it out for the chance to skate the Bolero. This time it's only Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean skating it. The most memorable routine of their careers! A celebration of 30 years since winning the Olympics! So, we all get to skate two of our favourite routines from this last series, plus group routines and some great spectaculars from the professionals. It's going to be a super show!

We were comparing injuries the other day! Take a look at Kyran and Joe's dislocated collar bones! Painful!

The other day my friend sent me this picture...

It's a page from Kimberley Walsh's book. It mentions how we always used to come across each other in auditions, before we got into our pop groups. I remember auditioning for Maria in ‘Coronation Street’ and in the final audition it was between Samia Ghadie (who got the part!), myself and Kimberley! Another person I always came across was Sheridan Smith. It's so lovely with the years of being in the industry together, seeing them all doing so well.

Apart from rehearsing for the tour, this week Corey has been preparing for his play 'A Midsummer Night’s Dream' for school. He's playing the part of Peter Quince and if I do say so myself, he is really rather good!

It's been rewarding learning his lines with him and seeing how he has really picked up the art of projection, especially with it being a Shakespeare play.

He also asked me to start teaching him tap dancing. To begin with he was VERY impatient and I did think it might be better to put him into a class instead of me teaching him! However, I soon changed my mind as he really started to pick it up and in the end we put a few steps together and we really enjoyed it! I joked to Matt that I now realise how it feels to teach someone who wants to run before they can walk!

I’ve just had such a lovely weekend with my boys. I got to do everything I wanted to do… yes, shopping on Saturday! I bought myself some new clothes for the tour, along with all the essentials in the shower bag. We went for lunch and then flopped on the sofa in front of a film - perfect!

On Sunday we had friends over for a meal. We’d planned to do a barbecue so went out to get all the ingredients in the morning. However, by the time we were home, it had started hailing! So it was an indoor barbecue!

Alex and Lukasz from the show came over and we had a great night. Lukasz spent most of the time making paper airplanes with Corey! Everyone thinks Alex and I look alike… what do you think?!

It’s been such a pleasure writing these blogs every week. I hope you’ve enjoyed hearing about my world! After I’ve finished the DOI tour, I’ll be preparing for ‘The Big Match’ – a charity football match in aid of The Brain Tumour Charity on 31st May at Reading Football Club. Come on down! There’ll be loads of celebs and ex-professional footballers and it’s going to be a brilliant occasion. More info here: www.thebigmatch.co.uk

I’ll also be finishing off the musical ‘Eugenius’ which you can keep up to date with by following @eugeniusuk – hopefully it’ll be coming to a stage near you soon!

Love,
