Suzanne Shaw blog: An emotional Dancing on Ice, a day in A&E and a Hear’say reunion

Dancing On Ice's Suzanne Shaw takes us behind-the-scenes on the show and how she juggles work and family life.

Another crazy week has flown by and it’s been full of surprises, drama and very little sleep. It started with a day off – my first day off in months!

Sunday night was pretty stressful so it really helped to have a lie-in and ease into the week. Well, that was until I received a call from one of the school mums that afternoon to say that Corey had tripped and fallen head first into a door at a birthday party. Great!

Two hours in A&E definitely wasn’t what I had in mind for the day but after a few tears and a bit of glue to stick him back together, he was back to his usual energetic self.

Dudley the dog also had a bit of a tough day. We took him back to the vets for his second injection, which he hated. The vets and A&E both in one day! Luckily, the excitement of taking Dudley for his first ever walk was enough to take both their minds off the traumas of the day.

It wasn’t much of a walk for Dudley, more of a drag to the shop and back. It took him a while to get used to the lead but he definitely enjoyed the attention of the locals who found the sight of a tiny puppy on a lead very amusing!

There were a few photos of me with Noel and Myleene after last week’s Dancing on Ice show. It was so brilliant to have them in the audience supporting me.

The three of us are really close and we give each other all the support we can. I’m so proud of them both for what they’ve achieved, especially Noel, who has some really exciting opportunities in the pipeline which he’s worked so hard towards.

We always get asked whether Hear’say will get back together – I think it’s safe to say that that won’t be happening. But if it did, it would probably just be the three of us!

I was lucky enough to be invited to the NTA’s on Wednesday night. I had such a great night – probably the best night at the NTA’s I’ve ever had.

It felt great to get out of the rink and get all glammed up. I went with some of the Dancing on Ice celebs; Beth Tweddle, Gareth Gates, Zaraah Abrahams and Ray Quinn.

I was so excited when This Morning won their award – I present a few competitions for them so I know the team well - they’re such a great bunch of people and deserve all the praise.

It was amazing to see some people I hadn’t seen for years too, and I had a funny moment with Paul O’Grady on red carpet when I arrived.

Instead of doing what we should’ve been doing and having our pictures taken by the press, we were just aimlessly chatting about dogs after he actually thought by handbag was a small puppy!

I was so star-struck when I saw Kiefer Sutherland – but sadly didn’t manage to meet him. I said a quick hello to Phil Schofield and Holly Willoughby, but spent most of the time talking to Phil’s lovely wife, Steph, who looked amazing.

By 10.30 I was in a cab back home (I won’t mention the fall I had as I was leaving…ouch!) because I was on the sofa with Lorraine at 8.30 the next morning, followed by two hours of training with Matt.

Training’s been tough this week and it’s a difficult routine on Sunday.  The lifts are really testing, I’m aching, bruised and constantly icing myself to get my body right for this Sunday. I’m particularly excited this week because it’s the first time Matt’s parents will see him skate live on the show.

As a surprise for Matt, I flew them over from the States. It was so good to finally meet them after hearing so much about them over the years.

It was great for us all to have some good quality family time and hear stories about Matt growing up and the years of his skating career.

Sunday night's show was another really emotional one for us all. I was so gutted to see Zaraah leave. For me, she was one of the best skaters on the show. We built such a great friendship and had so much fun backstage, so i'm going to really miss her.

Gareth continues to be the backstage joker - he decided to steal my phone and took over 300 random pictures - including this selfie! But i have big plans for revenge, so watch out Gates!

I've got another really busy week ahead and the competition on the ice is really beginning to hot up so i'm determined to put in a really strong performance next week! So it's off to training i go…

Have a great week!
