Sunglasses for spring/summer 2012

An essential summer accessory, sunglasses can instantly transform from drab to fab

We’ve been scouring the high street for the best of the bunch. Here are our top sunglass buys for the season.

Wayfarers

We love Topshop’s take on the classic wayfarer. The tortoiseshell frames contrast with the double metallic bridge and traditional dark wayfarer lenses.

For a slightly less trend-led pair, we like these simple tortoiseshells from Red Herring at Debenhams.

Following suit with wayfarers, but opting for a classic black Rayban style, Matalan’s copy is chic and, at £4, also cheap.

For a fun option, these two-tone colour block light blue and fuchsia wayfarers are from Primark.

Aviators

For a timeless classic, go for gold aviators, such as these retro brown-lens lovelies from BHS.

For an updated look, pair these mint green aviators from Topshop with pale colours to work this season’s pastel trend.

Oversized
Pay homage to the swinging sixties with a pair of oversized glasses. We like these purple animal print frames from Accessorize for a pop of colour.

For classic sixties Hollywood glamour, Florence & Fred’s beige oversized shades are a steal at £5 or for a little indulgence, Biba’s Bridget sunglasses from House of Fraser are fit for an icon.

Quirky

If you prefer smaller frames, then this season’s round lens sunglasses may just be for you. Our favourites are these round ASOS contrast frames and H&M’s black rounded frames.  Make a statement with cats-eye sunglasses, as seen on Gwen Stefani, Lady Gaga and Lindsey Lohan. We like these bright pink M&S shades and classic black Very frames with diamante detailing.

Feeling brave? Go for this cute heart-shaped pair from Monsoon or these polka dot frames from Next.
