HOW TO: Stop your skirt blowing up in the wind

The weather is rubbish, if you hadn't already noticed, so we're rebelling with a heavy dose of spring style.

It may be windy outside and, yes, it's still snowing in March, but that doesn't mean we can't embrace our new season wardrobe.

Myleene Klass appeared to be on our wavelength today as she stepped out in a pretty printed skirt and winter boot combo. And luckily she managed to laugh off the red-faced moment a gust of wind swept her skirt upwards in front of paps… gah!

In an effort to beat the inevitable skirt fail, here are our three top tips…

Shapewear is your friend

Topshop shapewear

If the wind is going to insist on ruining your day, you may as well be tucked in and trim. Fitted to your body, a flash of this soft microfiber slip won't leave you feeling all that exposed. Pick up this little number for £16 at Topshop.

Layer up with a spring coat

Zara SS13 coat

You may not be rocking the denim jacket just yet but a midi coat will prevent an unwelcome bum flash and add an instant pop of colour to your wardrobe. We're loving this peach style, £89.99, from Zara.

Sew coins into the skirt hem

money pounds

A favourite tailoring trick, weighing down your skirt with coins can do the job surprisingly well. Simply unpick a 2 cm width of your hem, slip in a few 1p coins - we don't recommend pouring in the contents of your penny jar, four or so will do - and spread around the skirt for even balance.

If all else fails of course, embrace the wind a la Marilyn Monroe…
