Star Wars Baby: Dad Uses ‘The Force’ To Help His Baby Sleep

Could this be the baby sleep trick you’ve been searching for?

Every parent has their own unique way of lulling their baby off to sleep.

From waving a piece of tissue over their tot’s face to using some clever baby buys to help create the best sleep environment possible, there are lots of ideas to try for yourself.

But we reckon Buddy Crotty’s figured out the best sleep hack.

The snooze-savvy dad takes a leaf out of Darth Vader’s book and does a scarily convincing impression of the sinister antagonist’s heavy breathing, which soothes his newborn daughter Madison back to sleep.

Buddy uploaded a video of his technique to YouTube, titled, ‘The Force Awakens… then falls back asleep,' just two days ago - and its already had almost 100,000 views. No doubt from parents who desperately need some advice.

“What’s the matter Madison? What’s the matter Mads? Why you mads? You’re just crying, why are you crying?” he is heard asking his daughter in the clip. Buddy then starts his Vadar breathing method and Madison gradually calms down and falls asleep.

Buddy’s technique isn’t just luck, there’s some science behind it. Child sleep specialist Dr Andrew Mayers told The Independent that the noise is similar to the white noise that the baby hears while in the womb.

“In the womb a foetus hears the mother’s heartbeat and the rushing of the blood, which sounds very similar to the sea and that’s very comforting for the baby,” he says.

But despite the success of this technique, Dr Mayers warns parents against using the same method for months on end – otherwise they can struggle to sleep without it. “It’s the kind of thing that should be gently phased out,” he says.
