Skulls, Lions And The Super Mario Brothers: Amazing Transformations Of A Young Make-Up Artist

From the Supermario Bros to incredibly intricate lions, skulls and bizarre abstract patterns, one young make-up artist has taken her skills well beyond just looking pretty.

Belinda Maines' talent for transformation has grown her more than 6,000 fans on Instagram and now the make-up team that work on Dr Who are even interested in her skills.

At just 21, Belinda has created herself and incredible portfolio, using cheap face paints and old make-up products, that ranges from abstract works of art to rather more realistic animals than you'd find painted on children's faces at a birthday party.

"I just started doing this in my bedroom at night," she explains.

'I've had no training, it was just something that I enjoyed doing. It's a fairly cheap hobby. I buy face paints from fancy dress shops and they only work out at £1 each.

"As well as that I use things I find around the house, CDs that I cut up, beads from necklaces, pots of glitter and old eye-shadows."

Each design can take up to three hours and Belinda admits she always feels a little sad to wash all the work off.

After revealing her work has drawn the interest of the BBC costume team, the Newcastle native admitted her dream was to work behind the scenes: "I would love to do make-up for one of a zombie movie - that would be incredible."

We reckon she's got the skills. Hollywood here she comes.
