Cannes 2014: Stars Flash The Flesh On The Red Carpet, Keep It (Mostly) Tasteful

It usually takes the temperature of fashion’s year ahead and if Cannes 2014 is anything to go by, we'll be seeing plenty of flesh on the red carpets in the months to come.

But it does seem that most of the stars are adhering to the old advice - legs or boobs, not both.

Sharon Stone stepped out in a high thigh-split, crimson Roberto Cavalli dress, taking care not to do an Angelina and allowing just a natural flash of her toned legs as she attended the De Grisogono Fatale In Cannes dinner party.

She's 56, people. And still leg bombing in style.

And she wasn't the only one to show off some skin.

At the same event Cheryl Cole went for a daringly dramatic look, with a low-cut, strapless bustier dress, striking bejewelled choker and austere pulled-back hair style.

She finished the look off with extreme smokey eye make-up and deep red lips.

Quite a statement, particularly considering none of us are quite sure exactly why she's at Cannes in the first place.

And there were more Brits putting all on display in the form of models Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Cara Delevingne.

Rosie went for a bra-revealing Cushnie Et Ochs gown, while Cara opted for a delicate, backless Roberto Cavalli gown with beaded embellishment and a simple train.

But not everyone nailed the fine line between sexy reveal and put-it-away.

Hofit Golan couldn't decide between a plunging neckline and bare legs, opting for both with just a sheer fabric skirt covering her modesty.

If this is a snapshot of the year to come, we're all going to be pretty hot and bothered come summer.
