Scarlett Johansson On Breastfeeding: “It’s The Best Way To Get Back In Shape”
The new mum has opened up about her breastfeeding experience and claims it’s what helped her shed her baby weight so quickly.
There’s no getting around. Losing the pregnancy pounds post-birth is a battle. Well, for most of us anyway.
Clearly for Scarlett Johansson, 30, the weight just fell off. Or so we thought when she showcased her ah-mazing figure just a couple of months after giving birth to her daughter Rose, at the start of September.
But the Hollywood starlet has revealed it was breastfeeding that helped her regain her (envious) pre-baby shape. That and some hardcore gym sessions, we presume.
Chatting to Barbara Walters for The 10 Most Fascinating People Of 2014 about the benefits of breastfeeding, the new mum said, “[I do] the whole bit. I’m nursing and I love it. It’s the best way to get back in shape.”
Scarlett added that motherhood is “wonderful.”
“It’s very, very magical – and exhausting. The love is just unbelievable. It’s very overwhelming.”
This isn’t the first time Scar-Jo’s opened up about life as a mum. She spoke to German magazine Gala last week, saying that her daughter smells “totally sweet”.
Like roses, we wonder? “I can’t quite describe it, but it really makes you euphoric.”
The star admitted that while motherhood is wonderful, she’s shattered – something that all new parents can relate to.
“I never thought how much sleeping through the night would mean to me,” she told the magazine. “I still lack experience. Right now I’m just trying to manage. You have to first learn the ropes.”
Since becoming a mum, Scarlett’s also made another huge life decision – marrying her daughter’s father Romain Dauriac. The couple tied the knot just a month after their baby was born.
Celebrity Breastfeeding Support
Scarlett’s not the only celeb mum to share her take on breastfeeding. In July, actress Olivia Wilde posed for a photoshoot in Glamour magazine while breastfeeding her son, Otis.
“Being shot with Otis is so perfect because any portrait of me right now isn’t complete without my identity as a mother being part of that,” Olivia said about the shoot. “Breastfeeding is the most natural thing.”
And let’s not forget Gisele Bundchen’s infamous multi-tasking breastfeeding snapshot that she posted on Instagram.
