Scarlett Johansson 'falling down meme' goes viral

Star fell over, internet reacts in the only way it knows how

The internet works in mysterious ways.

Last year, while filming forthcoming movie 'Under The Skin' with director Jonathan 'Sexy Beast' Glazer in Glasgow, Scarlett Johansson was required to fall in the street.

Rather than request a stunt double for the move, she gamely did it herself.

Fast-forward almost exactly a year, and her convincing trip has become the stuff of memes.

Recently, this photoshopping activity has ramped up considerably, and it's now 'gone viral', as they say, with Johansson's moment of faux-indignity repurposed in all manner of places.

We defy you not to emit a tiny chuckle at at least a few of these...

Entirely coincidentally – but a coincidence not lost on the internet – she recorded a track called 'Falling Down' for her debut album 'Anywhere I Lay My Head' in 2008, written by Tom Waits.

Perhaps imagine this playing as you survey the work of people with a little too much time on their hands.

Meanwhile, 'Under The Skin' is doing the film festival rounds, though there's no UK release date as yet.
