Is THIS The Baby Name That The Duke And Duchess Of Cambridge Will Pick?

Probably not, but you never know...

Up until recently, it seemed pretty likely that Kate and Wills would call their second baby Charlotte

But now, things have taken a turn as bookies announce that Alexandra is looking like the top pick – or so the British public thinks, anyway.

Of course, that’s assuming the Duke and Duchess have a baby girl.

Bookmaker William Hill has revealed that it has received a surge of bets of the classic girl’s name, slashing the price from 14/1 to 5/1.

At 4/1, Charlotte is still the top choice but the speed at which Alexandra has become popular makes the bookies think that it will overtake Charlotte in no time.

“Over 70 per cent of bets in the book suggest that Prince George will have a sister by the end of April and the move today has been for the name Alexandra,” says William Hill spokesman Rupert Adams.

“We believe the gamble was sparked by a rumour that if George had been a girl the name Alexandra was being lined up for the official pottery.”

According to Baby Name Wizard, the name Alexandra has Greek origins and means ‘protector or helper of mankind’.

A number of royal figures across the globe have had the name, including Princess Alexandra of Luxembourg, Princess Alexandra of Hanover (Princess of Monaco) and Princess Alexandra of Kent, to name a few.

Kate will be making her next public outing on Monday 9 March, during the annual Commonwealth Observance service.

Now that Kate’s heading towards the final months of her pregnancy, this may well be one of her last public appearances before the birth of her second child.
