Recovery

Recovery is the process of rest after exercise, particularly endurance or intense exercise such as running a marathon. The body requires recovery time to rest muscles and limbs and to allow the body to rejuvenate. Recovery is a vital aspect of physical activity, but often athletes and exercise addicts feel guilty if they take a break from exercise. Recovery periods are essential to prevent strains, torn ligaments or any damage caused by over exercising. Elements to be incorporated into recovery include cool-down exercises, replacing fluids, eating nourishing foods, having a massage, an ice bath and resting.
