Pregnant Duchess Of Cambridge Still Making The Fashion World Spin As Sales Of Her Go-To Maternity Label Double

The ‘Kate effect’ is still going strong – and as her uncle says she will have more children, will her pregnancy style return?

With her second baby due any day now (the hardcore royalists are now camping outside the Lindo Wing at St Mary's Hospital), we’ve seen the last of Kate Middleton’s maternity wardrobe for the time being *sob*.

But throughout her two pregnancies, the Duchess has become a something of a maternity style icon – a feat that’s sure to carry on with any future pregnancies she has.

Dubbed the ‘Kate effect’, the Duchess has caused multiple outfits she’s worn to sell out – and subsequently given numerous brands a boost in profits.

The latest of these is British high street retailer Seraphine, one of the Duchess’ most worn maternity brands, which has seen sales double in the past two years since Kate was first papped in one of the label’s outfits.

One of K Mid’s most talked about Seraphine buys was a soft blue collarless coat that she wore in London in January. The ‘Natasha Cashmere Blend Coat’ costs £195 kept the Duchess warm at a Family Friends coffee morning in Kensington.

The coat, available of the brand’s website is apparently suitable whether you’re pregnant or not – so you don’t have to be expecting a child to make it work for you.

Kate also picked a Seraphine outfit to wear in the first official photograph she took with Princes William and George in her parent’s garden.

The fuchsia wrap dress cost just £46 – a far cry from the Alexander McQueen and Erdem looks she often opts for.

Since launching on Kensington High Street in 2002, Seraphine has expanded to open stores in Marylebone and Battersea in London and in New York.

But if you don’t live in either of those fashion capitals, you can shop the brand’s offerings on their website – which serves over 30 countries.

Today, the brand has even more reason to celebrate after being awarded the Queen's Award for Enterprise for International Trade - as a result of it's extroadinary international growth.

As well as Kate being a huge fan of the maternity brand, it has also dressed Jessica Alba, Fearne Cotton, Sophie Hunter and Gwen Stefani’s baby bumps – to name a few.

Although we may’ve seen the last of Kate’s maternity style for now, her uncle has told royal fans that his niece will have more children in the future.

Recruitment mogul Gary Goldsmith, who’s Carole Middleton’s brother, told the Sun that the Duchess will definitely add to her brood – and urged fans not to get upset if she doesn’t have a girl this time around.

“I don’t think they’ll stop at two so if it isn’t a girl this time around, people shouldn’t be too disappointed,” he said. “I’m sure there’ll be a girl in the mix at some point.”

We’ll hold you to that, Gary!
