Photo Of Mum’s Bikini Body Inspires Women Worldwide: “I Wear A Bikini Because I’m Proud Of My Body And Every Mark On It”

Forget about looking at pics of unbelievably-svelte celebrity mums who don’t look like they were ever pregnant and celebrate this ‘real’ mum’s bikini bod

There’s nothing better than seeing a photo of woman who’s NOT what society deems perfect but is perfectly happy. Particularly when that woman has had three children.

When author Rachel Hollis posted this bikini photo on Facebook, she probably had no idea that it would spread like wildfire and become such an inspiration to mothers worldwide.

The image, which shows Rachel looking relaxed and happy while in a bikini on the beach, might not be anything groundbreaking – but the caption she put with it is incredibly powerful.

“I have stretch marks and I wear a bikini,” the mum of three wrote. “I have a belly that’s permanently flabby from carrying three giant babies and I wear a bikini. My belly button is saggy… (which is something I didn’t even know was possible before!!) and I wear a bikini.

“I wear a bikini because I’m proud of this body and every mark on it. Those marks prove that I was blessed enough to carry my babies and that flabby tummy means I worked hard to lose what weight I could.”

Warning; if you’re feeling at all emotional, this next section may make you teary…

“I wear a bikini because the only man whose opinion matters knows what I went through to look this way. That man says he’s never seen anything sexier than my body, marks and all,”

“They aren’t scars ladies, they’re stripes and you’ve earned them. Flaunt that body with pride!”

While a couple of these inspiring messages and photos have cropped up recently, it’s not everyday that they come along and we only wish we would see more women confident with their post-birth bodies.

It helps when celebrities such as Drew Barrymore admit that they aren’t perfect, either – whatever glossy magazine shoots make us think.

The actress, who has two young children, has admitted that her post-baby body is “saggy and weird” and while it’s taking a while to learn to love it, she’s getting there.

“After making two babies, holy cow, does your body do some crazy stuff! It’s hard to stay positive and love yourself,” the 40-year-old actress told Glamour magazine. “You feel like a kangaroo with a giant pouch; everything’s saggy and weird.”

But, like Rachel, Drew appreciates everything’s her body has been through and loves it for that simple fact.

Photographer Jade Beall’s work is also inspiring to any new mum who’s feeling despondent about her new figure. Jade encourages women to bare it all and photographs mums in all their post-pregnancy glory to show just how beautiful real mums are.
