New Maison Martin Margiela collaboration for H&M

The Swedish retailer confirms new designer capsule range.

After teaming up with major fashion labels Lanvin, Versace and most recently Marni, H&M have now confirmed their next collaboration is with Maison Martin Margiela.

The Swedish high street giant revealed that the one-off collection from their latest guest designer will launch in 230 H&M stores worldwide and online for men and women on 15 November 2012.

Belgian designer Margiela left the company in 2009 and now the fashion house is run by a team of designers. The label is famed for its deconstructed tailoring and avant-garde approach to fashion design.

Staying true to the brand aesthetic the Margiela collection will be ‘the work of the group rather than one designer’ which is a huge contrast to previous H&M collaborations that had the guest designer as the “face” of the line. Who could forget Donatella Versace’s press blitz for her Versace for H&M range?

“Maison Martin Margiela is one of the most important and influential fashion houses of the past three decades,” said H&M Creative Advisor Margareta van den Bosch.

“I am so excited by this radical collaboration which will give fashion lovers around the world the chance to wear special pieces by Maison Martin Margiela”.

It seems the Margiela fashion house is just as excited.

“The collaboration with H&M allows us to push this instinct further. We will bring together the contrasting universes of the two houses in ways that will surprise all.”

The fashion crowd has a huge admiration for Margiela, fans of the ready-to-wear line include Rihanna, Michelle Obama, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kanye West.

So we can’t wait to see how this collection will translate to the masses.
