Mum Horrified After Instagram Deletes Her Post-Birth Stretch Mark Pic

A mum is horrified after her Instagram account was shut down after she posted a photo of her post-baby body

The debate over what pics social media sites should and shouldn’t delete rages on after a new mum’s photo of her stretch marks caused her account to be closed.

Hannah Moore, 20, uploaded the snapshot to her account in a bid to boost her confidence in her post-baby body but was dismayed when her account was removed shortly after.

The photo showed Hannah, who’s a mum of twins, posing in trousers and her bra in front of a mirror. There was no nudity at all involved.

“Two minutes after the picture was uploaded my account got closed down, my mouth just dropped and my eyes watered,” says Hannah. “I don’t know why, it was out of the blue, but I decided to post a picture of my belly on Instagram because I’ve had twins.”

Hannah told her followers that “nobody should be judged by their size because everyone is beautiful” but soon revealed that the pic was removed because it contained inappropriate “nudity and violence”.

The blocking of Hannah’s account left her thinking her body is “clearly fat, ugly and disgusting and it made people feel sick.”

Hannah believes she wasn’t in breech of Instagram’s guidelines, which state: “We know that there are times when people might want to share nude images that are artistic or creative in nature, but for a variety of reason, we don’t allow nudity on Instagram.

“Photos of post-mastectomy scarring and women actively breastfeeding are allowed.”

She has since said that she thinks “Instagram should be more careful in whose accounts they delete” and wants them to look into her case further.

“Nobody could get on my Instagram and nobody could search for it so someone had obviously reported the picture for nudity and all it was, was a picture of belly and it has just took my confidence away,” says Hannah. “I felt so confident posting the picture showing my baby belly, my belly that carried twin girls for only six months.”

Hannah’s account has now been re-instated, claiming that removing the account was a “technical mistake”.

Hannah's horror at having her Insta account shut down comes just days after the #LoveYourLines campaign hit headlines.

A candid shot that model Chrissy Teigen posted of her stretch marks on her Instagram account caused women worldwide to share their own inspirational stretch mark snapshots, using the #LoveYourLines hashtag.
