Emma’s the favourite name across the country, as the top pick in a whopping 22 states including Texas, Virginia, Pennsylvania and Masschusetts.

The top boy’s name, Noah, wasn’t quite as popular but was still the number one choice in nine states, including Florida and a large percentage of the southwest states.

This isn’t the first time that Emma’s been a favourite baby name choice, so it’s not a huge surprise that it’s still so popular.

The classic name choice has made the top three in the girls names list for 11 years now, taking the top spot in 2008 as well as last year.

Nameberry.com reveals that the name was given a big boost when it was given to Rachel and Ross’s baby on Friends in 2002 and it’s also the name of one of Jane Austen’s most famed protagonists.

It’s also the name of many current-day female celebrities, including Emma Watson, Emma Roberts and Emma Stone.

Noah’s been the most popular baby name once before, in 2013, unseating Jacob after a thirteen-year reign.

The biblical name is ‘one of those unexpected fashion hits,’ says Nameberry and has definitely shaken off its ancient image.

Actor Rupert Graves and singer Michael Buble both called their sons Noah, while Billy Ray Cyrus (Miley’s dad) gave another of his daughter’s the traditionally-masculine name choice.
