Most Dangerous Sex Position Revealed

This position might be fun for all but is responsible for the majority of cases of penile fractures

Ever wondered what the most dangerous sex position is?

Forget hanging from a swing, the most precarious position for men is the Cowgirl – that’s when the woman’s on top for those of you not au fait with sexy monikers.

According to a study conducted in Brazil, Cowgirls were responsible for half of all penile fractures occurring during sex causing rather a lot of pain for the men involved.

Half of the patients treated for penile fractures during the course of the study reported hearing an audible crack and experiencing severe pain, leading them to seek treatment.

Penile fractures occur when an erect penis experiences trauma, usually via excessive or acrobatic sexual intercourse or aggressive masturbation.

As well as the cracking sound and pain, the penis becomes bruised and swollen due to blood escaping the ruptured cylinders in the shaft.

If left untreated, the fracture could lead to erectile dysfunction and/or deformity of the penis.

But it’s not just the Cowgirl position that poses a threat to trouser snakes out there. Having sex with a woman on all fours was responsible for 29 per cent of penile fractures recorded during the study.

The safest position is, unsurprisingly, good old missionary where the man lies on top of the woman.

Thankfully, a penile fracture is a relatively rare injury with only 44 men featured in the study that took place in three hospitals over 13 years – that works out at around one man per hospital, per year.

Now, we’re not laughing (honest) but according to a medical paper on the issue of broken willies the causes for fracturing vary widely around the world.

While in the US the majority of cases arise from traumatic coitus, in Japan only 19 per cent of penile fractures happen during sex.

The main reasons Japanese men end up in A&E toting fractured shafts are extreme masturbation and rolling over in bed onto an erect penis.

According to the paper published in 2004, in Iran men came up with all kinds of reasons for having bruised their member including a donkey bite and ‘falling from a mountain onto [an] erect penis’.

So lads let this be a lesson to you – don’t just wave your old boy around willy nilly, you might hurt yourself.
