H&M launched its exclusive collaboration with Maison Martin Margiela around the globe today.
The eagerly-awaited collection, which features women’s and men’s apparel and accessories, has proved to be a sell-out already – with shoppers in their droves queuing to get their hands on the range both online and in store.
The collaboration between the popular high-street chain and the French fashion house was heralded by fashion critics and follows in the footsteps of H&M’s previous tie-ups with Versace, Anna Dello Russo and most recently, Marni.
H&M hosted a fashion event to celebrate its Maison Martin Margiela collaboration in New York last month and stars including Sarah Jessica Parker, Helena Christensen and Selma Blair appeared to show their support.
Fashion designers including Alexander Wang and Kanye West also made an appearance.
Recently, fashion-forward actress Selma Blair praised H&M for pulling in some top designer collaborations.
"Have I loved all the H&M collections? Yeah, especially Versace - to get that much oomph at H&M is wonderful," she told Look magazine.
"They're all incredible. I'm all for that high/low thing, letting everyone get access to designers. For someone like Margiela to design for H&M is like, crazyballs to me!”
Maison Martin Margiela is a notoriously private designer, conducting all interviews via fax, not appearing at the end of his catwalk shows and has never had his picture taken.
The Belgian designer left the business in 2009, with no reason given except for a press release which stated that “no replacement creative director will be appointed.”
