Altuzarra for J.Crew: it’s possibly one of the most anticipated designer-meets-mass-market collaborations of all time. Not only is the Parisienne NYFW designer THE hottest ticket around fashion town right now - and favoured by everyone from editrix Carine Roitfeld to his soon-to-be MET Ball partner Lana Del Rey - but Jenna Lyons, president of J.Crew, has never been quite so high profile and quite so emulated in the fashion stakes. She’s a regular street-snapped obsession and we’d all very much like to dress like her.
Joseph coyly announced a few weeks ago that the collabo was due to arrive very soon, and here we are, after three weeks of tenterhook central, with a very exciting - and wearable - result indeed...
Altuzarra is the king of new-wave sexy dressing, he manages to fuse a sporty aesthetic with something altogether more feminine and girly than many of his modern-day counterparts. Grazia Daily predicted/crossed fingers and toes that we’d see Joseph’s slim-cut pants, dresses and vibrant prints come to life in the preppy world of J.Crew and we weren’t far off the mark. There are only seven pieces to judge so far (the WE WANT MORE chants are ringing through the office as we type), but it seems that Altuzarra has taken the more minimal approach (one that resounds with his Resort ’11 collection, actually) and chosen to sass-up basics like the classic french Breton, table-cloth gingham sundresses and that most signature Roitfeld item of all, the denim pencil skirt. But what we really want to know, is who exactly are the pieces named after? Patricia dress… Serge sweater… Corrine wedges? Answers on a postcard please!
