Lesbian Couple’s Pregnancy Photos Go Viral For All The Right Reasons
The two side-by-side snapshots have made US mums Melanie and Vanessa Iris Roy famous
A beautiful set of maternity photos has taken the Internet by storm.
North Carolina based couple Melanie and Vanessa Iris Roy posted their side-by-side pregnancy snapshots on Instagram a couple of months ago, for them to be picked up and circulated online in the last few weeks.
The two photos show the couple one year apart, both experiencing the chance to be pregnant.
The first pic, positioned on the left, shows Vanessa Iris pregnant in January last year with the couple’s son Jax and the image on the right, taken this January, features a heavily pregnant Melanie.
The couple has since welcomed their new addition, a daughter called Ero, and now post plenty of adorable snaps of their two tiny tots on Instagram for their followers to coo over.
The couple even has a YouTube account where they post oh-so-sweet videos of their family – and their births.
Speaking about the huge reach of the photos online, Melanie told The Huffington Post, “It’s crazy to see that people were referring to my family as an inspiration. We are still in complete shock.”
Both Melanie and Vanessa hope that their photos encourage other lesbian couples to fulfill their hopes of starting a family.
“The woman’s body is incredible,” says Melanie. “The way it creates and grows another human being is amazing. We hope that our picture is that sign that some women my need to encourage them to carry a child.”
The couple are fans of attachment parenting and practice many aspects of it, including babywearing, breastfeeding and co-sleeping.
