Kim Kardashian Reveals North West Knows How To Apply Make-Up

With perfectly put-together parents like Kanye West and Kim Kardashian, North's learning from the best, after all

Kim Kardashian is one of the most well-groomed women on the planet (she’s rarely seen with a platinum-blonde hair out of place) and it seems like the mum-of-one could be encouraging her daughter to follow in her footsteps.

In her mere 21 months of being on this planet, North West has always looked groomed to perfection with slicked back hairstyles, too-tight topknots and leather trousers. Oh, and bulletproof vests. Yes, really.

And while we assumed it was all Kimye's eagle-eyed styling, it seems like little Nori knows a thing or two about getting herself ready, too.

Kim’s admitted that North is a dab hand with make-up and knows exactly how to use her mum’s beautifying essentials.

“She can open my blush, put the brush in and put it on her cheek. Today, she was opening my lipstick,” Kim told People magazine. “She puts it up to her lips like she know what she's doing!”

Kim’s received criticism for letting her daughter wear leather, lace and fur, none of which are very toddler-appropriate – not to mention uncomfortable.

Sharon Osbourne hit out at the reality star for letting her use North as “a fashion accessory” and people all over social media have called Kim out on her unconventional parenting decisions.

But she’s not the only star who’s been slammed for dressing her young child in inappropriate clothing.

Britain’s Got Talent judge Amanda Holden recently received backlash on Twitter after sending her nine-year-old daughter, Lexi, to school dressed as Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman – aka a prostitute.

Amanda claimed her Julia Roberts reference was actually a joke and says her daughter was meant to be Cindy Crawford as it was 90s day at school.

Last year, Amanda also made the headlines after revealing her now three-year-old daughter Hollie wears lipstick.

The celeb admitted she lets her daughter put on some lippy so that she eats her breakfast. Not an approach that most parents would opt for.

“Hollie is obsessed with lipstick,” said Amanda at the time. “She won’t do anything before she has her lippy on. But it means she eats her breakfast.”

Katie Holmes was another mum to make a name for herself after her daughter Suri, now eight, was papped wearing red lippy in 2011. And Heidi Klum’s daughters were spotted sporting scarlet lips a year later.

However one celeb mum is stricter with what her young children can and can’t wear. Victoria Beckham revealed that she gets glammed up when her youngest child, Harper, isn’t around so that she doesn’t copy her.

“I can’t put on make-up when Harper’s around, because she would join in immediately,” the designed told German magazine Icon.

Putting the debate of whether a child should or shouldn’t be allowed to wear make-up aside, it isn’t entirely safe for a tot to do up their face.

A lot of ‘grown-up’ cosmetics contain chemicals and toxic ingredients that could react with a child’s delicate skin, causing irritation and rashes. And getting a child into the routine of wearing make-up could be a tough habit to break.

What do you think? Should mums avoid letting their children try out make-up or is it just harmless fun? Let us know in the comments.
