Kelly Brook Reveals Her Diet Plan And Exercise Routine: ‘I Don’t Want To Be Super-Skinny – I Like My Curves!’ - EXCLUSIVE

The ‘One Big Happy’ star opened up about her recent weight-loss on the Atkins diet – including having to ditch the tea and biscuits! *sob*

She’s looking better than ever since moving Stateside to pursue a TV career.

And former glamour model Kelly Brook has admitted one of the main lifestyle changes she’s made since relocating to LA is her diet.

Speaking to us at the launch of her being named the new Global Ambassador for Skechers, the 35-year-old Brit said her recent weight-loss is down to the her new diet plan.

“I’ve always worked out. I’ve been training three or four times a week so I think it’s just my diet that changed,” she told Yahoo Lifestyle.

“I started doing the Atkins nutritional plan so that changed everything and I started seeing pounds dropping off.”

All About Aktins

Kelly was announced as the face of the New Atkins plan earlier this year and has been documenting her journey on the famous low-carb, low-sugar diet on Instagram ever since.

Her meals consist of plenty of healthy fats including smoked salmon, avocados, oily fish and nuts but one thing that the diet plan does not condone is sweet treats.

“I got rid of my five cups of tea with two sugars in a day, all the biscuits went – all the British stuff!” she joked.

“I just replaced it with all the Atkins products so if I fancied a chocolate bar, I’d have an Atkins bar instead.

“I found that was my savior because you do feel like you want a naughty snack and you can’t [on Atkins].”

But if you thought it was a healthy in the week and binge at the weekend type scenario, think again, because Kel doesn’t allow herself ANY cheat days.

“I’m so strict! You don’t have cheat days on Atkins because it’s a lifestyle so you have to kind of stick to it,” she admitted.

And for those thinking it’s a quick fix, Kel told us she’s not an advocate of crash diets and prefers to lose weight gradually – even if it takes a little longer.

“I kind of describe [being on Atkins] as landing a plane. It’s a gradual thing, it’s not like a crash diet where all of a sudden I’m going to be one way and then bounce back as soon as I come off it,” she said.

“It’s about incorporating it into my life and making it sustainable and practical.”

Sounds like a healthy attitude to us! She’s been sharing some of her home-cooked meals on her Insta and they look delish – especially the salmon and home-made salsa. YUM.

Mixing Up Her Workouts

Alongside her low-sugar, low-carb diet, the ‘Close Up’ author maintains a regular exercise routine that makes her both look and feel amazing.

Her general fitness regime consists of a combination of weights and cardio, but she likes to mix it up with swimming, hiking and martial arts to keep things fresh. We don’t blame her!

“I do heavy weights a couple of times a week and I do Barry’s Bootcamp for cardio. I go hiking in the hills if it’s a nice evening, I swim, do a bit of martial arts. I like to mix it up – I do a bit of everything,” she says.

The famous Barry’s Bootcamp classes consist of interval training on the treadmill - one of the best ways to burn fat.

“It’s hard but it’s good because I think cardio and running is one of the hardest things to do,” she said.

“I do like to [run outside] when I’m in LA but it’s getting quite hot now so it’s nice to be inside.”

Alongside hitting the gym 3-4 times a week, Kel’s also been taking Wushu classes in LA, which is a martial arts class which she described as being a bit like ‘Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon’ due to the sequences involved.

“It’s really fun because [my instructor] teaches me the movements and the sequences so he knows how to put it all together to make you look good,” she joked.

“I do it like once a week – it’s something fun to do.”

The Best Version Of Herself

We have to admit, it sounds like the LA lifestyle suits this Brit down to a tee – from the hikes, to the healthy eating, to the gym sessions, Kel seems happier than ever since relocating to the States.

In fact her lifestyle sounds pretty similar to a certain Kim K, who famously lost weight on the Atkins diet and has a pretty intense gym regime.

But Kelly told us that despite the similarities, their bodies are VERY different and she doesn’t necessarily look up to the 34-year-old reality star for body inspiration.

“No, I think we’ve got completely different body types. She’s got a lovely body but no, I just want to be the best I can be,” she said.

Kel’s got a point – while there’s no harm looking up to celebrities with similar body types to us for fitness inspiration, there are plenty of factors to consider such as their lifestyle and (in the case of Hollywood celebs) whether they have a personal trainer and in-house chef!

Instead, she focuses on being the best she can be, which for her is being super-healthy on the Atkins diet and maintaining her famous curves through regular exercise.

“I think there’s all women of different shapes and sizes that are beautiful, I just know the kind of body that I like and that’s to be curvy and toned, and athletic and strong, so I just want to focus on being that,” she said.

“I don’t want to be super skinny or anything like that.”

Sounds like our kinda gal!
