Attachment Parenting: Katie Hopkins and Peaches Geldof debate controversial topic

Vocal fan of Attachment Parenting Peaches Geldof hits back at Katie Hopkins, causing stir ahead of TV debate

Both mums are no strangers to controversy so it's hardly surprising that columnist Katie Hopkins and socialite Peaches Geldof were chomping at the bit to have their say on so-called Attachment Parenting (AP).

The pair were invited on This Morning to discuss the parenting style, which promotes a close bond between parent and child, and where the baby dictates the routine.

While it partly encourages parents to bond closely with their baby, promotes loving skin to skin contact, empathy and loving care, it also includes controversial methods such as feeding on demand and co-sleeping.

And this morning the 10-minute discussion quickly descended into a slanging match, with Katie not-so-eloquently branding AP as C-R-A-P parenting - much to Peaches' anger.

The former Apprentice star didn't help herself ahead of the interview, re-posting that photo of Peaches losing control of her baby's pram while on her mobile, causing scores of Twitter users to jump to the young mum's defence.

Peaches began the discussion, putting across how she sees AP.

"It seems a shame to me that we have to name it at all. AP is just a return to instinctive mothering. It's sad to see mothers treating heir baby as an alarm clock."

Peaches had clearly done her homework ahead of her TV appearance and went on to spout the findings of several 'Harvard studies'. She also listed the 'Seven Bs of AP': Birth-bonding, breastfeeding, baby wearing, bedding close to baby, belief in the language value of your baby’s cry, beware of baby trainers and balance.

Katie remained quiet while Peaches had her say but her facial expressions were priceless.

When she did voice her opinion, it was to say that AP leads to a nation of spoiled brats.

"We have to remember that we are the parents and that we're in control," Katie said.

"AP means you have to be there immediately the moment your baby cries and be at its beck and call every second, even sleep with them in the same bed because these women never grew out of having dollies."

Peaches came back claiming it's clear Katie was not brought up with attached parents, which is why she's 'so cold', and posted a photo of the pair on Twitter soon after the discussion claiming victory.
