Kate Middleton Royal Baby Name Poll: Odds On Duchess Of Cambridge’s Second Child Revealed

What should the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge call Prince George's little brother or sister? It looks like the names Alice and James are in the running…

With recent reports suggesting that pregnant Kate Middleton is expecting a little princess, the odds are soaring for baby girl names at the bookies.

William Hill have revealed that 70 per cent of customers are betting on the royal couple having a girl, suggesting that 18-month-old Prince George could soon have a little sister – but what name will the Duke and Duchess choose?

What Are The Princess Names In The Running?

The odds suggest that the second royal baby, due mid-to-end April, will be given a traditional name and Alice, Elizabeth and Charlotte are the hot favourites.

Alice is the frontrunner at 2/1, with Ladbrokes revealing they had a flurry of bets on the name from a group of royal fans in Tunbridge, Kent. Do they know something we don’t?

It’s closely followed by the name Elizabeth (9/2), suggesting Prince William could plan on paying homage to his paternal grandmother, Queen Elizabeth.

But the chances of the baby being named Charlotte (11/2), Victoria (12/1) or Alexandra (14/1) are still pretty high, considering the royal couple haven’t confirmed the gender.

Other baby girl’s names in the running include Diana, the name of William’s late mother, as well as Catherine, Mary and Margaret – although with the name Catherine, it would break with royal tradition to give the baby the same name as his or her mother.

But What If He’s A Prince?!

Boy’s names are way down on the list, with James (the name of Kate Middleton’s little brother) being the most popular choice at 14/1.

The rest of the favourites include Arthur and Henry (a nod to William’s brother, Harry) which are both at 20/1, Alexander at 25/1 and Philip (the name of Wills’ paternal grandfather) at 25/1.

Traditional names including Albert, Edward and Louis (one of Prince George’s middle names) make up the rest of the list of potential boy’s names.

But it doesn’t look like 33-year-old Kate and 32-year-old Wills are planning to pay homage to William’s father Charles, as that name isn’t in the running.
