Kate Middleton Reveals Prince George ‘Loves To Swim’, Future Olympic Champion?

Swiftly following in auntie Zara Phillips’ footsteps - though Prince William won't be too pleased

As if we needed any more reason to coo over Prince George.

Now Kate Middleton, 32, has revealed that the royal baby – who turned one earlier this month – loves to splash about in the swimming pool.

Such a cutie.

Speaking to former world champion swimmer James Hickman at a SportsAid event at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, the Duchess of Cambridge told him that Prince George is something of a water baby.

Hickman, 38, asked the Duchess whether she had taken the toddler – who’s third in line to the throne – swimming, as Kate had been spotted cheering on the swimmers from the stands at the Games the night before.

"She was at the swimming last night, so I was just interested to know if she had taken George swimming,” said the former sportsman at SportsAid.

And just like any other little one, she revealed Prince George loves the water and tries to find things to splash about in the pool with.

"She's been swimming with him. She said he loves the water and he grabs things to splash with,” he said.

He suggested the future monarch could follow in the footsteps of his auntie, equestrian Zara Phillips, who won a silver medal at the London 2012 Olympics.

"Hopefully if they can get him swimming he could be a future international swimmer,” he said.

"So, maybe he could be the next royal to take part in the Olympics and if he was in swimming that would be incredible."

It’s thought that Catherine takes her son swimming at Buckingham Palace – and the pair were reported to have gone swimming on the morning of his first birthday.

His father Prince William, 32, recently revealed that George loves his bath time – so it’s no wonder he’s a fan of the pool as well.

"At the moment bath time is quite painful, but hopefully donning a snorkel and mask might calm him down,” said William at the British Sub-Aqua Club (BSAC) gathering earlier this month.

The news of George’s penchant for the pool comes just a week after his first birthday, where he celebrated with both sets of grandparents (including the Queen!) at a Beatrix Potter inspired party.

Unsurprisingly Carole Middleton, whose business is planning parties, jumped at the chance to throw a party for her first grandchild at the family home in Berkshire last Saturday.

The ‘private family occasion’ was Peter Rabbit themed and if we spend too long thinking about Prince George running around in bunny ears our hearts may implode.

Guests including Zara Phillips and George’s cousin Mia nibbled on finger food and bunny shaped biscuits, while the little prince played with his presents – including a wooden train and a hand-stitched football.
