Kate Middleton Pregnancy Due Date Announced, Royal Baby Conceived In Scotland?

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are expecting their second child in April 2015

Pregnant Kate Middleton and Prince William are expecting the second royal baby in April 2015, Kensington Palace has confirmed.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are ‘delighted’ to announce the news, according to the official statement.

The Palace added that the Duchess is still suffering from the effects of acute morning sickness (Hyperemisis Gravidarum), although her condition is ‘steadily improving.’

Catherine’s first public appearance since announcing her pregnancy in September was also confirmed in the statement – another sign that she is on the mend.

Kate Middleton will make a solo appearance at the Natural History Museum tomorrow night, where she is a patron, for the Wildlife Photographer of the Year Awards.

She was set to visit Malta on behalf of Her Majesty The Queen in September but was forced to cancel due to the severity of her illness, with her husband going in her place at the last minute.

The announcement of the baby’s due date gives us some clue as to where Prince George’s little brother or sister was conceived.

The Duchess is thought to be around 12-14 weeks pregnant, suggesting the couple’s second child – who will be fourth in line to the throne – was conceived in August.

We know that the royal couple spent their summer holiday in Scotland visiting the Queen and Prince Philip at Balmoral – before relocating to the family home in Norfolk for the rest of their summer break.

Does this mean that the royal baby was conceived on Scottish soil?! Now that Scotland is remaining in the UK after the referendum, we wonder if they will take that as inspiration for their baby name?

At the moment, James is the bookie's favourite boy's name, followed closely by Henry and Arthur. Elizabeth is the most popular girl's name, along with Victoria and Diana - so not Bonnie or Nessie.

But if they were to choose a Scottish name, let's hope they don't name it after a place like the Beckhams did with their son Brooklyn (reportedly named after the New York borough where he was conceived).

Prince Glasgow doesn't exactly have the same ring to it...
