Kate Middleton Leaving Prince William And Baby George At Home On First Solo Overseas Visit To Malta

The Duchess of Cambridge will represent Her Majesty The Queen on a visit to the country to mark its 50th anniversary of independence

She's had plenty of experience on official visits here in the UK.

But Kate Middleton is set to leave husband Prince William and son Prince George at home for her first solo overseas visit later this year, Kensington Palace has confirmed.

The Duchess of Cambridge, 32, will visit Malta on the 20th and 21st September on behalf of Her Majesty The Queen to celebrate 50 years since the country’s independence.

It’s her first trip overseas without the Duke of Cambridge and their son Prince George of Cambridge, who celebrates his first birthday with a Beatrix Potter themed party today.

His nanny Maria Teresa Turrion Borrallo is expected to look after him while Kate is away – although we can only hope that little George gets plenty of daddy time during the weekend too.

The Duchess of Cambridge has made a number of trips abroad since she married Prince William in 2011, as part of her work to support the Queen at home and abroad.

Kate and Wills carried out an overseas visit to Canada three months after they married, visiting Ottawa, Quebec and Alberta as newlyweds on behalf of Her Majesty.

The couple then took part in their second tour as part of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations where they visited Malaysia, Singapore, the Solomon Island and Tuvalu.

Although it hasn’t been confirmed, some people reckon this is where the pair conceived their son (must have been all that crazy dad dancing on Wills’ part).

But arguably the most successful royal overseas visit was that of the family’s three-week tour of Australia and New Zealand earlier this year.

Kate, William and George were met with rapturous applause as they landed Down Under and they continued to impress the Aussies – with William even admitting it’s where his son took his first steps.

However the Duchess of Cambridge’s wardrobe choices were under strict surveillance during the royal tour – with some fashion critics labeling it ‘boring.’

We’ve got our fingers crossed for a change in pace for the Duchess’ Maltese tour outfits, with more adventurous styles such as the canary yellow Roksanda Ilincic dress and less of the same safe styles she often recycles.
