Kate Middleton 'To Name Royal Baby Number Two Elizabeth Diana Windsor'

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are said to be paying homage to Prince William’s late mother with the baby name choice

The rumour mill has been awash with speculation surrounding royal baby two since Kate Middleton announced her pregnancy earlier this month.

But if recent rumours are to be believed, the Duchess of Cambridge is expecting a baby girl – and she’s already decided on a name.

Pregnant Kate, 32, will name her newborn Elizabeth Diana Windsor, paying homage to husband Prince William’s late mother, Princess Diana.

According to royal biographer Andrew Morton, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge already discussed baby girl names before son Prince George was born.

"Close friends to William and Kate have told me that if it is a girl they want to name the baby after Diana,” he told The Sun on Sunday.

"They discussed girls' names before George was born and now they're hoping the next one is a girl so they can carry out their wish to honour William's mother.

"They're not too thrilled at the thought it will be shortened to Princess Di. But it won't change their minds."

Morton, who wrote a biography about the Princess of Wales, admitted other members of the Royal Family would be ‘furious’ if the royal baby was named after Diana.

Bookies William Hill also said that the name Elizabeth Diana is looking to be the favourite.

“We have seen plenty of cash, even at this early stage of proceedings and it looks highly likely that Elizabeth is definitely on the shortlist,” said spokesman Joe Crilly.

But if we have anything to learn from past events, it’s that Kate and Wills don’t go with the majority.

When the Duchess was expecting their first child, James and Louis were the bookies favourite – but they eventually settled with Prince George Alexander Louis.

The Duchess of Cambridge is currently resting at Kensington Palace suffering from Hyperemesis Gravidarum (acute morning sickness) and was forced to cancel a scheduled visit to Malta (Prince William went instead).
