'In Detail' Jewellery Bloggers Reveal The Hottest Gold Hoop Earrings

We can't resist a thorough rummage through the jewellery collections of fashionable types, which is exactly why The 'In Detail' blog has become our addiction. Brought to us by designer and writer Beanie Major and graphic designer-slash-photographer Harry Cresswell, it offers access-all-areas coverage of the most delectable and fashion-forward bling out there, both out on the streets and in the jewellery boxes of the most exciting jewellery talent. We've already seen Beanie and Harry's top jewellery trends from London Fashion Week and now the pair are back their gold hoop round-up. Enjoy...

'In Detail' Jewellery Bloggers Reveal The Hottest Gold Hoop Earrings

The origin of the earring is believed to date back to India several thousand years ago in the form of small gold hoops. If they appeal to you like they did to our ancestors and your style is less J-Lo and more Abbey Lee then you probably opt for a smaller hoop and no doubt have wondered where to get them from in the past. It’s the question I get asked the most as a jewellery blogger so we decided to make it our personal mission to hunt down and try out some of the hottest small gold hoops around.

1. If you are looking to make a statement then do so with style with this limited edition earring by Hannah Martin. Made in 18ct gold with either sapphires or rubies that have been set upside down to look like studs, it twists through the ear to give a double-hoop effect for some serious rock and roll style.  (£350 hannahmartin.com)

2. Zara Simon is a gold-hoop guru. Hard as it was to choose from her amazing selection it was these simple but striking cross earrings that got our vote. We first spotted them on Made in Chelsea’s Rosie Fortescue who named Zara Simon as her latest jewellery crush. We’ll second that. (£200 zarasimon.com)

3.  We love Daisy Knights’ feminine and paper-like take on skulls and the delicate wire of these hoops. Crafted from recycled silver and plated in 18ct gold vermeil these hoops are the perfect nod to the skull jewellery trend. (£141 daisyknights.com)

4. These gold vermeil cat claw earrings by Shaun Leane are from his signature tusk collection that has gained a huge celebrity following including Kate Moss and Gwen Stefani. Subtle yet sophisticated these perfectly sculpted earrings are one of our favorites. If you have multiple piercings then layer them up and for a really dramatic effect they look great at the top of the ear too. (£120 shaunleane.com)

5. These spiked hoops from Maria Francesca Pepe’s latest collection ‘you can’t buy me love’ may be small but certainly demand some attention. The tiny studs give a modern ‘tough luxe’ twist to the classic hoop that will give an edge to any outfit. (£25 mfpepe.com)

6. At a glace these earrings may look like a simple gold hoop but look closely and you’ll see the light catches the surface of the metal to reveal a beautiful form inspired by the bamboo plant.  The subtle but elegant beauty of these earrings makes them a timeless classic. (£105 dinnyhall.com)

7. If you are looking for a way to display your darker side then look no further than these skeleton hand earrings by Momocreatura. Known for her childlike imagination and macabre designs these have been beautifully crafted to give a fresh and playful take on the hoop earring. (£195 momocreatura.com, lunaandcurious.com)

8. We preach good quality jewellery especially when it comes to earrings as non-precious metals can infect and turn your ears green…yuk! Good quality always come with a price tag or at least that was what we thought until we found these gold plated silver earrings by Oliver Bonas. Delicately crafted out of thin wire that is hammered out at one end these earrings slip through the ear and sit perfectly to give a cool and elegant look. (£17.50 oliverbonas.com)

9. These intricate hoops by Noemi Klien are the perfect replica of a mouse’s spine . Each piece is beautifully cast in silver and crafted by hand in her East London studio and plated with 22ct gold. Subtle yet sophisticated these earrings are perfect for both day and night. (£120 noemiklein.com)

10.  If your looking to stand out from the crowd but studs and spines aren’t your style then these earrings by Hannah Warner are perfect for you.  We love the minimal structure of the overlapping swirls that create a playful twist on the traditional style. Opt for these to add a little quirkiness to your wardrobe. (£160 hannahwarner.com)
