How To Bag A Man In 60 Days (By Losing Your Soul)

Hop straight into bed and dedicate yourself to making him happy: An American writer reckons he can help women bag the men of their dreams... We're not convinced

Having trouble finding a decent man? Then you're probably dating wrong, according to US author Blake Lavac.

Instead of being yourself, seeing if you have chemistry and accepting a few chivalrous gestures before heading home alone on the first date to pique his interest, Blake reckons you should be rather more forward, including hopping into bed right away.

He suggested women should do the chasing, be prepared to have sex on the first date and focus all their attention on the man.

Speaking about his new book 'Own that Guy in 60 Days: A Practical Guide to Love for the 21st Century Woman' on This Morning, he said: "Times have changed, sexual liberation has occurred.

"Women need to play it hot from day one. While everyone else is backing off and waiting to be called, you need to be proactive."

He reckons that 'taking control and keeping it' is how Angelina Jolie bagged Brad Pitt, and how Wallace Simpson made King Edward VIII fall so in love with her he gave up his throne.

The 53-year-old, who studied psychology at LSE, claims his book is the result of seven years of research into dating patterns and says that 'owning' your ideal man is simple and doesn't require a model body or stunning looks.

He explained: "She doesn't have to have movie-star looks, or a flat stomach, whitened teeth or bee-stung lips. In fact, none of that matters at all, as long as a few simple guidelines are followed instead."

He continued: “Hard to believe? Of course it is... it is precisely because so few women really know how to land a big tuna that they end up with little sardines instead.”

Blake also said that women should pay for dinner and drinks and basically do all the chasing, rather than acting aloof or playing hard to get.

But fortunately there was another opinion challenging him on the show.

This Morning's relationship expert Denise Robertson said that dating isn't all about playing games, being controlling and treating the man 'like he's stupid'.

Which is something of a relief because Blake's advice was making us feel like we'd stepped back in time.

Sure, there is always an element of ego massaging and tactics in dating, but falling at the feet of the man you want to date and showing him you'll do ANYTHING to make him yours can't be a healthy start to a relationship.

If nothing else when he realises you too are a human with opinions, needs and a budget that doesn't always stretch to buying his drinks, he'll realise that cow-towing of earlier dates was just part of the game. And feeling played isn't likely to lead to a happy life together either.
