How Much Does Giving Birth Really Hurt? These Men Were Willing To Find Out

Let’s see if men really are as tough as women…

The pain of labour is one thing that men will never understand. Try as they may, there’s just nothing comparable to it, making it virtually impossible for men to wrap their heads around. Until now. Well, kind of.

A group of brave men have tried out a labour simulation machine to experience the physical pain of giving birth – and the results are pretty hilarious.

The four men, from Buzzfeed, enlisted the help of a chiropractic sports physician to hook them up to the labour pain simulator. The men explain that doing the labour pain simulator has been their fans’ number one request since they start their ‘Try Guy’ videos.

The machine forces their abdominal and back muscles to contract to experience pains very similar to that of childbirth.

“Childbirth is so painful, that you would gladly have a needle stuck between the vertibre in your back,” Mike Spohr, Buzzfeed’s Senior Parenting Editor, warns the men.

Although how he knows, unless he’s also tried out the machine, is beyond us.

Before starting, the experts warn the men that women often tear and poo during labour, because of all of the stress on the body. But we're not sure the machine will manage to replicate this pain and loss of control...

The chiropractic sports physician takes the four guys through the different stages of labour – from mild to unbearable contraction pain. And watching how they handle the pain is pretty eye opening.

“That’s like someone just digging their nails into your stomach,” one of the men remarks of the mild pain.

By the time the men reach the ‘intense’ stage of labour they are in a lot of pain. Some even use the designated safe word ‘epidural’ to end the pain entirely.

The last stage is the ‘unbearable’ pain, which leads the remainder of the guys to yell out the safe word after writhing in agony.

It’s not easy, is it fellas?
