Hamstrings

Hamstrings are the tendons found behind the knees which attach the rear thigh muscles to the lower leg. These muscles are vulnerable to being pulled, which can occur during sprinting, for example. An effective way to stretch the hamstrings to prevent injury is to lie on your back with your knees bent. Raise one leg and hold onto the foot, ankle or calf depending on where feels comfortable. Then gently straighten the leg as far as you can; repeat for the other leg.
