Glucose

Also known as dextrose, glucose is the body's primary source of energy. This type of sugar comes from digesting carbohydrates into a chemical the body can convert into energy. Most of the body’s glucose levels come from digesting the sugar and starch in carbohydrates, supplied by foods such as potatoes, pasta and confectionary. Excessive levels of glucose in the body can lead to hyperglycaemia, which can lead to diabetes, so it’s vital to maintain a healthy level.
