Glee star Amber Riley opens up about body image in Hollywood on MTV

Glee star Amber Riley showed off her sensitive side in a recent episode of MTV's This Is How I Made It.

The soul singer, who plays Mercedes Jones on the smash hit TV show, was asked about how she copes with the pressures to be thin in the cut-throat world of Hollywood.

The 26-year-old, size 16 actress told the interviewer, "Hollywood is a very hard place to be in. It really is. Being the person I am, you know, the size I am, being a woman, being a black woman, there's not a lot of roles for us."

Amber also reveals that she was offered roles like 'the girl who sits in the corner and eats all day' and 'the girl who committed suicide because she was fat' before landing the part of bold, loud and confident Mercedes on Glee.

She added, "I'm not going to conform, and hurt myself, and do something crazy to be a size 2."

But it seems Amber is having the last laugh because she's just landed her first Broadway role in Cotton Club Parade.
